Olympic Games of 2008 ♥

The Olympic Games of 2008 were realized in Beijing, the capital of China, between august 8 and 24.

The sporting event counted with 302 proofs in 28 sports, where 10.902 athletes from 204 national Olympic committees participated. Besides Beijing other cities of China celebrated sporting events. The soccer competition was realized in Qinhuangdao, Tianjin, Shenyang and Shanghai, while the regattas and the horse riding took place in Qingdao and Hong Kong.

The Olympic Games of Beijing became in the most expensive event of the Olympic history, reaching a cost that would exceed the 44.000 millions of dollars, almost triplicating the budget of its predecessor, the Olympic Games of Athens 2004.   

The candidature of Beijing was promoted by Juan Antonio Samaranch, with the purpose of reward China for all that has done for the sport.

 

Start of the Olympic Games.

The antique olympic games (called like that for being celebrated in the city of Olimpia) were religious, cultural and sports partys celebrated in the antique Greece(776 a.C-392d.C) in honor to the olympic gods. the contestants participated in the gyms.

One leyend about the origin of the antique olympic games says that was hHeracles who called "Olympic Games" to a serie of sport events in honor to his father Zeus and stablished the custom of celebrate them every four years, and he also build an estadium on honor to Zeus.

Meaning of the Olympic Rings

The Olympic Rings are the principal symbol of the Olympic Games. The emblem is formed by five interlaced rings of blue, black, red, yellow and green color, they represent the five continents: Europe, Asia, Africa, Oceania and America. It was designed by the baron Pierre of Coubertin in 1913.

The rings form two lines, three in the upper part and two in the lower one. The rings of the upper line are of blue, black and red color. The rings of the lower part are of yellow and green color. At least one of these colors can be found in the flag of each participant country of the Olympic Games.

Genetically engineered cats.

Has been published in the journal "Nature Methods", the study with cats, these scientists have inserted a gene, that in cats will help create a resistance against HIV, they have also inserted the GEF gene is responsible for prodcucir a fluorescent protein; this gene is one antiviral that reduces the restriction factor, which resists HIV.

Japan inserted this gene with the GPF into feline ovules, and suceeded, because the babys  were born with the gene, restriction factor.Using a light microscope these cells can be noticed.

It is said that this study not only help the cats but also to humans.
